Ruth & I had a week on this North Queensland island, off the coast of Townsville. We were after a cheapish, low key, sunshine and beach holiday, and this fitted the bill to a T, although we were kinda expecting it to be somewhat less-than-perfect - a compromise we were willing to make for the sake of fewer bucks out of our pocket. However, we were very pleasantly surprised, finding the place to be far less developed and touristy than we feared, and than much of the rest of the Queensland coast.

As Kate & PJ prepared for their imminent nuptials, the Sydney contingent joined them for a barbecue/piss up to send them on their merry way, it not being a practical proposition for us to fly to Stornaway en masse.
